Expert Review

4.5/5
The XC60 is Volvo's mid-size luxury SUV for buyers who want Scandinavian minimalism with German-beating safety — the one that proves you don't need a three-pointed star to feel like you've made it. Priced at ₹68.90 lakh (ex-showroom), on-road figures land between ₹77-80 lakh depending on your city. It's the most expensive in its class — the BMW X3 starts at ₹72.50 lakh, the Mercedes-Benz GLC at ₹77 lakh, and the Lexus NX undercuts it at ₹67.59 lakh — but Volvo has a single, fully-loaded "Ultra" variant, so you don't have to choose between features and your dignity. Who should buy it? Safety-obsessed buyers who want a premium SUV without the German badge tax. Tech enthusiasts who actually use Google Assistant. Anyone who thinks the X3 is too common and the GLC is too flashy.

It's a great car, but the low beam headlights are a little weak. There's a slight learning curve to the ADAS features – I hated them at first. An OTA update eventually fixed the fine-tuning, making it less intrusive. The rear seats could be bigger but are quite comfortable for my family.

I've driven 65,000 km on my used XC60 and I've grown to love it. The 2.4L 5-cylinder twin-turbo diesel is one of the best diesel engines I've owned. It's super peppy and efficient, giving 13.5-14 km/L on highway runs. The mechanicals are well-proven and reliable.

The XC60 is a solid package offering a feature-rich experience. The interior is practical and has good space. It's loaded with safety features and technology. The 5-year service package costs about ₹1 lakh only, which is very competitive.

This is the most comfortable car in its whole damn segment. The seats remind me of those plush chairs in furniture shops, and the leather is super soft. The Bang & Olufsen sound system is a cracker, and the overall experience is one of quiet luxury. It's understated and just bold enough on the outside.

I own a 2023 Volvo XC60 and can vouch for its reliability and solid feel. The car has a great ride quality and glides over broken roads. The 230mm of unladen ground clearance is enough to tackle most Indian roads and water wading. I'll buy the T8 hybrid model if it's ever introduced in India.
