Enzo Ferrari was born in 1898 in Modena, Italy. He did not start as a car builder. He started as a racing driver. In the 1920s, he drove for Alfa Romeo, winning races and learning how machines worked when pushed to the limit . In 1923, something happened that would define the rest of his life. Enzo won a race at the Savio circuit in Ravenna. After the victory, he met Count Enrico Baracca and Countess Paolina, the parents of Francesco Baracca, Italy's greatest World War I flying ace.
