Expert Review

The EC40 is Volvo's electric coupe-SUV for buyers who want Scandinavian minimalism with a side of 408 bhp sleeper performance — the one that proves you don't need a German badge to get German-beating acceleration. Priced at ₹59 lakh (ex-showroom), on-road figures land between ₹62-66 lakh depending on your city. It's the coupe-roofed sibling of the EX40 — think of it as the same DNA, just with a more dramatic haircut. Who should buy it? Buyers who want a stylish, premium EV with genuine performance and class-leading safety. Anyone who thinks the iX1 is too common and the Ioniq 5 is too... Hyundai. Safety fanatics who actually read NCAP reports. What will bug you? The coupe roofline compromises rear headroom and makes ingress/egress tricky. The rearward visibility is poor thanks to that acutely-angled windscreen.

The range fluctuates with the weather. In winter I got around 240 miles, but in summer it improved to 310 miles. The conservative range estimates are actually a blessing.

The DC fast charging is impressive — 0% to 80% in around 40 minutes with up to 150 kW power.

A stylish, safe, and well-balanced premium EV. The smooth, quiet drive and comfortable seating make it ideal for both city and highway use.

I've driven over 5,000 km and feel very confident in all segments. The only issue is the range of 350-400 km, which is decent but not class-leading

The cabin feels premium without being overly luxurious. The dashboard is angular, futuristic, and attractive.
