The Tata Punch is one of the most convincing small SUVs for buyers who want a compact car with a proper SUV feel. Its upright design, high seating position and around 193 mm of ground clearance make it well suited to Indian roads. The cabin is surprisingly spacious for its size, while the latest version gets plenty of useful features and six airbags as standard.
The 1.2-litre petrol engine is adequate for city driving, while the newer 1.2-litre turbo-petrol is a much better choice if you want stronger performance. CNG is also available for buyers focused on running costs. The ride quality is one of the Punch's biggest strengths, and the 366-litre petrol boot is genuinely useful for a small family. The naturally aspirated engine, however, can feel strained with five passengers and luggage, especially on highways.
Who should buy it? Someone who wants a safe, compact SUV with good ground clearance, practical space and manageable running costs.
What will bug you? The regular petrol engine is not exciting, cabin noise can rise at higher speeds and rear-seat width is only average.

Boot loading lip high hai. Heavy luggage uthana mushkil hai.
Kuch fit and finish issues hain. Panel gaps noticeable hain.
Touch HVAC controls frustrating hain. Physical buttons miss karta hoon.
AMT traffic mein thoda jerky hai. DCA better hai.
1.2L petrol engine thoda noisy hai. 3-cylinder ki awaaz sunai deti hai.
