The Tata Punch EV is one of the most practical small electric SUVs for city buyers. Its compact size makes it easy to park, while the upright design and 195 mm ground clearance give it a proper SUV feel. The cabin is spacious for its size and gets plenty of modern features. The latest 40 kWh version claims a 468 km ARAI range, with Tata estimating around 335 to 355 km under its C75 real-world test cycle.
The electric motor delivers instant torque, making the Punch EV quick and effortless in traffic. The 40 kWh version produces 95 kW and 154 Nm, with 0 to 100 km/h taking around 9 seconds. Its 366-litre boot is also useful for a small family. Charging at home makes daily use easy, while highway trips still need some planning around fast chargers.
Who should buy it? Someone who wants an affordable, compact EV for daily city driving with enough range for occasional highway trips.
What will bug you? Highway range drops with speed, charging still needs planning and the cabin does not feel as premium as larger EVs.
