The Tata Aeris feels like a sensible step forward from the Tigor, although Tata has left a few things to complain about. The base Smart variant, for example, misses power windows, which feels hard to justify in a modern car and may push buyers towards the Pure variant for basic everyday convenience. Things get better as you move up the range. The CNG versions are particularly clever, thanks to the twin-cylinder setup placed under the boot floor, which helps preserve useful luggage space instead of eating into it. The five-variant lineup also keeps things fairly simple, with a clear jump in features as you move up. Power comes from the familiar 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron, available with petrol and iCNG options. It does the job well for city driving and is quite efficient on CNG, although performance feels weaker in gas mode. There is no turbo or more powerful engine option either. Overall, the Aeris makes more sense as a practical family sedan than an exciting one, and choosing the right variant is important if you want to avoid paying extra for features you may not need.
