Expert Review

4.4/5
The Range Rover Autobiography is the kind of SUV where luxury is clearly more important than practicality. It has a commanding road presence, an extremely quiet cabin and some of the best seats you can get in a luxury SUV. The interior feels more like a high-end lounge, with premium materials, large displays and excellent attention to detail. It is also one of the few luxury SUVs that looks equally comfortable parked outside a hotel or climbing a rough trail. The powerful petrol and diesel engines deliver effortless performance, while the automatic gearbox keeps everything smooth. The air suspension is the real star, making broken roads and long highway drives remarkably comfortable. Four-wheel drive and advanced off-road systems give it genuine capability, although most owners will probably never use them. The huge size can be difficult in narrow Indian streets, and the low-profile tyres need care around potholes. Who should buy it? Someone who wants maximum luxury, comfort and road presence, with genuine off-road ability as a bonus. What will bug you? The enormous size, extremely high running costs, expensive tyres and the occasional electronic gremlin can test your patience.

The price is astronomical. ₹3.5 crore is just the base – adding custom paint, rear entertainment, and ceramic controls quickly crosses ₹4 crore.

The Pivi Pro screen is gorgeous but frustrating. I miss physical climate buttons – adjusting the temperature while driving is distracting.

The PHEV is the best of both worlds. Silent city driving and effortless highway cruising. I'm getting 12-13 km/l in mixed driving.
