The Nissan Tekton is Nissan's comeback attempt in India's crowded midsize SUV market, and it has arrived with plenty of attitude. Inspired by the bigger Patrol, the Tekton gets a bold, upright design, 212 mm of ground clearance and a massive 518-litre boot. The cabin is well equipped too, with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and Level 2 ADAS. It also gets a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating.
There are two turbo-petrol engines. The 1.0-litre makes 100 PS and 166 Nm with a 6-speed manual, while the 1.3-litre turbo produces a healthy 163 PS and 280 Nm. The bigger engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or wet-clutch DCT. The 1.3 manual does 0-100 km/h in 9.51 seconds, making the Tekton surprisingly punchy for a family SUV.
Who should buy it? Someone who wants a spacious, well-equipped SUV with strong turbo performance and excellent ground clearance.
What will bug you? No diesel or hybrid option, the 1.0-litre engine is only average on highways and Nissan's smaller service network may still make some buyers nervous.
