The Nissan Gravite is a budget-friendly seven-seater MPV that puts practicality ahead of performance. Its biggest advantage is packaging, you get three rows, a compact sub-four-metre footprint and flexible seating without spending SUV money. The cabin is spacious for its size, while the removable third row can free up a useful amount of boot space.
The 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine makes 72 PS and 96 Nm, with a 5-speed manual or AMT. It is perfectly adequate around town, but the lack of power becomes obvious with seven passengers and luggage, especially during highway overtakes. Ride quality is composed, and the 182 mm ground clearance suits Indian roads well. The third row is genuinely usable for a budget MPV, although boot space is limited with all seven seats occupied.
Who should buy it? A budget-conscious family that genuinely needs seven seats and values practicality over performance.
What will bug you? The weak engine, engine noise under hard acceleration, basic cabin quality and limited boot space with all rows occupied.
