The MG Hector is a spacious midsize SUV that focuses more on comfort, features and road presence than outright performance. Its large body gives it a proper SUV feel, while the cabin offers plenty of space and a long list of features. The big touchscreen, connected-car functions and comfortable seats make it a good family car for daily use.
The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine is smooth enough for city driving, while the CVT makes traffic easier to handle. There is also a 2.0-litre diesel option for buyers who want stronger highway performance and better pulling power. Ride quality is comfortable, but the Hector's size can feel cumbersome in tight streets and parking areas. The rear seat is spacious enough for three adults, making it more practical than many compact SUVs.
Who should buy it? A family that wants a spacious, comfortable SUV with lots of features and a relaxed driving experience.
What will bug you? Fuel efficiency is average, the petrol engine is not particularly exciting, and the large dimensions can be annoying in the city.
