Expert Review

4.54/5
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has long been the sweet spot for buyers who want luxury without stepping into full-size flagship territory. It offers a spacious cabin, excellent ride comfort and a premium interior, while its long-wheelbase version is particularly well suited to Indian buyers who often prefer to be driven rather than drive. It feels sophisticated without being unnecessarily flashy. The latest E-Class uses turbocharged petrol and diesel engines with mild-hybrid assistance, delivering smooth and effortless performance. The automatic gearbox is well suited to city traffic, while the suspension keeps highway journeys comfortable. Rear-seat comfort is a major strength, with plenty of legroom and a relaxed seating position. It is less about sporty driving and more about covering long distances without tiring its passengers. Who should buy it? Families, executives and chauffeur-driven buyers who want a refined luxury sedan with excellent rear-seat comfort. What will bug you? Its size can make narrow streets and parking difficult, ground clearance needs care on sharp speed breakers, and maintenance, tyres and insurance are expensive.

The cabin insulation is phenomenal. Road and wind noise are virtually non-existent, making it the perfect car for long highway journeys.

The light-coloured upholstery looks stunning but is a nightmare to keep clean. One rainy day and the seats show every speck of dirt.

The 3.0L straight-six in the E 450 is one of those engines that makes you want to drive. 381 hp and 500 Nm – effortless, seamless power.

Soft-close doors are a small touch that makes a huge difference. No more slamming – just a gentle, damped close that screams quality.

The 9G-Tronic gearbox is buttery smooth. You barely notice the shifts, and the 48V mild-hybrid makes the start-stop system seamless.
