Expert Review

4.4/5
The Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine is the entry point to Mercedes ownership for buyers who want a luxury badge in a compact package. It looks sharp, has a well-designed cabin and is much easier to use in the city than a large luxury sedan. The low seating position and sleek profile also give it a more premium feel than most mainstream sedans. The 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine is smooth and responsive enough for everyday driving, while the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox works well in normal traffic. It feels refined on highways and handles corners with confidence, although the ride can feel firm on broken Indian roads. Rear-seat space is decent, but this is still a compact luxury sedan rather than a chauffeur-focused car. Who should buy it? Young professionals and small families who want a compact luxury sedan with Mercedes styling and badge appeal. What will bug you? Ground clearance needs care over sharp speed breakers, rear-seat space is limited compared with larger sedans, and maintenance, tyres and insurance cost much more than a regular family car.

The 1.3L petrol engine feels out of breath above 4,000 RPM. It's fine for city commutes but not for highway thrills. The cabin is a masterpiece, but I wish they'd given ventilated seats and a better horn. Still, the badge makes me smile every morning.

The MBUX system with dual 10.25-inch screens is the best in the segment. Voice control works surprisingly well for navigation. The diesel torque makes overtaking on two-lane highways a breeze. Ground clearance is low but manageable with careful driving.

Fleet operator – I have 3 of these for executive rentals. The 8-year warranty is a godsend for our business. Service costs are high but the cars are reliable. The rear seat is a bit tight for tall executives, but the front cabin experience compensates.

I've owned this for 1.5 years and 18k km. The diesel engine is a workhorse – no issues, great fuel economy. The 8-speed DCT is silky. My only gripe is the rear headroom – my teenage son hits his head on the roof when we go over bumps.
