The Maserati GranCabrio is a luxury convertible for buyers who want performance without giving up the experience of carrying four people. It combines Italian styling, a beautifully finished cabin and an open-top driving experience that most sports cars simply cannot match. It is less about practicality and more about making every drive feel like an occasion.
The 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 produces strong performance, with all-wheel drive helping put the power down effectively. It is quick, refined and surprisingly comfortable for a performance convertible. The rear seats are genuinely usable compared with most two-door sports cars, although adults will not exactly have limousine levels of space. With the roof down, however, the GranCabrio becomes far more dramatic.
Who should buy it? Buyers who want Italian style, strong performance and a proper four-seat convertible without settling for an ordinary luxury car.
What will bug you? It is large for Indian roads, ground clearance needs attention, fuel consumption will hurt and maintenance is firmly in luxury-car territory.
