The Maruti XL6 is essentially the more premium and better-dressed version of the Ertiga. It keeps the practical MPV formula but offers a six-seat layout with captain chairs in the second row, giving passengers more comfort. The spacious cabin, large boot and relatively compact size make it a strong choice for Indian families.
The 1.5-litre petrol engine is smooth and adequate for daily driving, while the CNG version is a sensible option for buyers covering high kilometres. The automatic makes city traffic easier to deal with, and the suspension handles typical Indian roads reasonably well. The second row is the highlight, while the third row is better suited to children or shorter adults on longer trips.
Who should buy it? Families wanting six-seat practicality, comfortable captain chairs and affordable ownership without moving to a large SUV.
What will bug you? Performance feels modest with a full load, the third row is not ideal for adults, and the cabin does not feel as premium as some newer SUVs.
