The Maruti Fronx is a stylish crossover that sits between a premium hatchback and a compact SUV. Its coupe-like shape gives it more road presence than a Baleno, while the compact dimensions keep it easy to drive in crowded Indian cities. The cabin is practical and spacious enough for a small family, although the sloping roof does eat into rear headroom slightly.
The 1.2-litre petrol engine is smooth and efficient, while the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol offers noticeably stronger performance. The CNG version makes sense for high-mileage users focused on running costs. The suspension handles normal Indian roads well, and the light steering makes parking easy. It is more comfortable than sporty, which suits its everyday role.
Who should buy it? City users and small families who want an efficient, stylish car with SUV-like looks without actually buying a large SUV.
What will bug you? Rear-seat space is not class-leading, the turbo version can get expensive, and the crossover styling does not bring serious off-road ability.
