The Maruti Ertiga is one of the most sensible family MPVs in India. It is compact enough for city driving but spacious enough to carry seven people, making it a practical choice for large families. The cabin is simple and functional, while the low running costs and wide Maruti service network make ownership relatively stress-free.
The 1.5-litre petrol engine is smooth and adequate for daily use, while the CNG version is particularly attractive for buyers covering high kilometres. The automatic option makes traffic easier to handle, and the suspension does a decent job on typical Indian roads. The second row is comfortable, while the third row is best suited to children or shorter adults, especially on longer journeys.
Who should buy it? Families who need seven seats, good fuel economy and affordable ownership without wanting a large SUV.
What will bug you? The third row is tight for adults, performance feels modest with seven people and luggage, and the cabin does not feel particularly premium.
