Expert Review

4/5
The Maruti Eeco is not trying to be a stylish family car. It is a practical people mover built around one simple idea, carry people and luggage without making ownership expensive. Its boxy shape creates plenty of usable cabin space, while the compact footprint keeps it manageable in crowded Indian cities. It is also widely used for commercial and fleet duties for the same reason. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is adequate for city driving, while the CNG version makes more sense for buyers covering high kilometres. The upright seating gives good visibility, and the suspension can handle rough roads reasonably well. With multiple seating configurations, the Eeco can work as a family van, business vehicle or daily workhorse. Who should buy it? Large families, small businesses and buyers who prioritise space, practicality and low running costs over comfort and features. What will bug you? The cabin is basic, safety equipment and refinement are not its strongest points, highway performance is modest, and the ride can feel bouncy when the van is lightly loaded.

Simply the most affordable 7-seater. It's an excellent value deal.

Low loading lip makes it easy to put heavy boxes inside. Very practical design.

Great for carrying both people and goods. The engine has been solid for 25,000 km.

Nothing beats the Eeco on price for a 7-seater. The seating is adequate.
