The Maruti Dzire is one of the most sensible compact sedans for Indian families. Its small footprint makes it easy to drive in crowded cities, while the separate boot gives you useful luggage space. The latest Dzire also feels more modern inside and offers a good balance of comfort, efficiency and everyday practicality.
The 1.2-litre petrol engine is smooth and well suited to city driving. The CNG version is an excellent option for buyers covering high kilometres, while the automatic makes traffic less tiring. Ride quality is comfortable over typical Indian roads, and the light steering makes parking easy. It is not particularly exciting on highways, especially with a full load, but it does the family-car job without much fuss.
Who should buy it? Families, first-time buyers and high-mileage city users looking for an economical and easy-to-maintain sedan.
What will bug you? Highway performance is modest when fully loaded, cabin insulation could be better, and the compact rear-seat width is not ideal for three adults.
