The Mahindra XEV 9e is one of the most interesting electric SUVs from an Indian manufacturer. Its coupe-SUV design, futuristic cabin and strong performance give it a more premium character than most Mahindra models. It feels like Mahindra is finally taking the fight to established EV brands.
The electric powertrain delivers instant acceleration, while the large battery offers enough range for daily use and planned highway trips. The cabin is the real highlight, with multiple screens, premium materials and plenty of space. The ride is comfortable, although its large size can make tight city roads and parking spaces difficult.
Who should buy it? Someone who wants a premium electric SUV with strong performance, modern technology and a distinctive design.
What will bug you? Its size, charging time, software niggles and the still-developing EV charging network can make long-distance travel require some planning.
