Expert Review

4.52/5
The RX is Lexus's mid-size luxury SUV, priced between ₹1.08 crore and ₹1.33 crore (on-road). It competes with the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Audi Q7, and Volvo XC90 — the segment where buyers expect a balance of luxury, space, and driving dynamics. The RX is available in two hybrid variants: the 350h (2.5-litre, 247 bhp) and the 500h (2.4-litre turbo-hybrid, 366 bhp). The RX is the quintessential Lexus: quiet, comfortable, and built to last. The cabin is a sanctuary of leather and wood, with a 14-inch touchscreen that finally ditches the touchpad. The ride is plush, soaking up bumps with the kind of grace that makes German SUVs feel overly firm. The 500h variant offers genuine performance, hitting 100 km/h in around 6 seconds. Who should buy it? Buyers who want a luxury SUV without the maintenance nightmare of a German badge. Families who prioritise comfort over sportiness. Lexus loyalists upgrading from the NX. What will bug you? The price. At ₹1.33 crore for the 500h, you're paying a premium over the BMW X5 (₹95 lakh - ₹1.11 crore) and Mercedes-Benz GLE (₹99 lakh - ₹1.17 crore). The 350h feels underpowered for a car of this size, and the 500h's fuel efficiency takes a predictable hit. Also, the boot space is adequate but not class-leading — the Volvo XC90 offers more luggage room. And at this price, the interior, while lovely, doesn't quite match the sheer opulence of the GLE's cabin.

It's a comfortable ride with good handling, but the technology is not up to par with competitors. The price is also a bit high for the features offered.

The RX is one of the most comfortable cars you can buy in India. The rear seat space is generous, the ride is plush, and the hybrid is frugal. After-sales service is top-notch.

The RX is a solid choice for a luxury SUV, but it's not as engaging as the Germans. The interior quality is excellent, but the tech feels a generation behind.

It's a bit boring to drive. No steering feedback, and the CVT drones when you push it. The infotainment is outdated, and the price is steep for what you get.

This car is the most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned. The seats are amazing, the suspension is plush, and the hybrid system is seamless. It's a stress-free luxury experience.
