Expert Review

4.5/5
The LX is Lexus's flagship SUV — a 3.3-litre diesel V6 producing 309 bhp and 700 Nm, priced between ₹3.34 crore and ₹3.81 crore (on-road). It competes with the Land Rover Range Rover, Mercedes-Maybach GLS, BMW XM, and Toyota Land Cruiser 300. The LX is essentially a Land Cruiser 300 in a tuxedo — same platform, same engine, but with Lexus's spindle grille and a cabin that costs more than most people's houses. The interior is where the LX justifies its price: semi-aniline leather, wood trim, a 25-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, and enough buttons to pilot a 747. The Overtrail variant adds off-road hardware — because nothing says "adventure" like a ₹3.81 crore SUV that will never see a dirt trail. The ride is plush, the cabin is whisper-quiet, and the 3.3-litre diesel offers effortless torque for highway cruising. Who should buy it? Buyers who want a Land Cruiser but don't want to be seen in a Toyota. Industrialists who need a go-anywhere vehicle for their farmhouse weekends. Anyone who thinks the Range Rover is too common. What will bug you? The price. At ₹3.81 crore, you're paying a significant premium over the Land Cruiser 300 (₹2.18 crore) for essentially the same car. The infotainment system is laggy, the fuel economy is abysmal (6.9 kmpl), and the sheer size makes city driving a chore. Also, the Range Rover offers better badge appeal and a more luxurious cabin for similar money.

The price is hard to justify when you consider what Land Rover and Mercedes-Maybach offer. But for pure reliability and off-road capability, nothing beats the LX.

Lexus service is truly excellent. They treat you like royalty – pick-up and drop-off, detailed cleaning, and that legendary Japanese hospitality.

This SUV was so strong and tough, it could go anywhere. From the deserts of Rajasthan to the hills of Himachal – the LX never lets you down.

The infotainment screen is too small and the graphics feel outdated. For ₹3 crore, you'd expect a Tesla-like tablet experience, not this.
