The Lexus ES 500e is Lexus finally giving its executive sedan a proper electric makeover, and it is a very convincing one. The new ES is large, quiet and focused heavily on comfort, with a 2,950 mm wheelbase, 517-litre boot and a cabin featuring a 14-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital display and 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system.
The dual-motor AWD setup produces 343 hp and 438 Nm, enough to take the ES 500e from 0-100 km/h in a claimed 5.5 seconds. Its 74.68 kWh battery offers a claimed 580 km range, while a 150 kW DC charger can take it from 10 to 80 percent in around 28 minutes. The suspension is tuned for comfort rather than corner-carving, which suits the ES perfectly.
Who should buy it? Someone who wants a quiet, premium electric sedan with serious performance, excellent comfort and Lexus refinement.
What will bug you? It is expensive, the real-world range will be lower than the claimed 580 km and the huge body can be awkward in tight Indian parking spaces.

The 8-year battery warranty is a huge plus. That's the kind of confidence you want from a luxury EV.
The DIRECT4 AWD system would be a great feature for our monsoon roads. Stability and grip would be excellent.
The dual-motor setup with 338 bhp sounds impressive on paper. That 5.5-second 0-100 sprint is quick for a luxury EV.
I've heard the cabin is super quiet and the ride quality is exceptional. Lexus really knows how to isolate road noise.
The exterior design is stunning. Those sleek lines and the spindle grille give it a commanding road presence.
