The Lexus ES 350h is the luxury sedan for buyers who have discovered that not every journey needs to feel like a race. The new-generation ES is longer and wider than before, with a 2,950 mm wheelbase and a cabin designed heavily around rear-seat comfort. It also gets a 14-inch touchscreen, premium materials, Lexus Safety System+ and a Mark Levinson 17-speaker audio system on the Luxury variant.
The 2.5-litre four-cylinder strong-hybrid powertrain produces a combined 247 hp and drives the front wheels through an e-CVT. Lexus claims 25.22 kmpl, which is impressive for a large luxury sedan. The ES is tuned more for smoothness and efficiency than outright performance, with a 0-100 km/h time of around 7.7 seconds. It is also locally assembled in India and starts at ₹66.10 lakh ex-showroom.
Who should buy it? Someone who wants a quiet, comfortable luxury sedan with excellent efficiency and relaxed rear-seat comfort.
What will bug you? It is not particularly sporty, the 377-litre boot is smaller than German rivals and the front-wheel-drive layout may feel less exciting to enthusiasts.

This is the most sensible luxury car you can buy. Peace of mind ownership, period.
I wish the infotainment was a bit more intuitive, but the overall package is hard to beat.
The cabin isolation from road noise is incredible. It's like being in a library on wheels.
It's not the quickest car off the line, but the power delivery is smooth and steady.
The 14-inch touchscreen is a huge upgrade. Finally, Lexus has modern infotainment.
