The Discovery is Land Rover's seven-seat family hauler — the one for buyers who need to carry a cricket team to a farmhouse and actually get there. Priced from ₹1.25 crore to ₹1.39 crore (ex-showroom), on-road figures start around ₹1.57 crore and stretch past ₹1.75 crore. That's roughly ₹18 lakh more than the base Defender 110, and you're paying for two extra seats and a less boxy silhouette.
Rivals include the BMW X7 (₹1.26-1.33 Cr), Mercedes-Benz GLS (₹1.28-2.75 Cr), Volvo XC90 (₹97.80 Lakh), and Audi Q7. The GLS offers more badge prestige and a plusher cabin; the X7 delivers better on-road dynamics.
Who should buy it? Large families who need seven seats and actually go off-road. Anyone who finds the Defender too utilitarian and the GLS too suburban.
What will bug you? The interior lacks the sheer opulence of the GLS or X7. The 123-litre boot with all seats up is laughable.

The rear visibility is not great due to the thick pillars.
The heavy curb weight affects the fuel economy significantly.
The touchscreen can be laggy sometimes.
The 5-metre length makes city parking a real challenge.
