The Discovery is Land Rover's seven-seat family hauler — the one for buyers who need to carry a cricket team to a farmhouse and actually get there. Priced from ₹1.25 crore to ₹1.39 crore (ex-showroom), on-road figures start around ₹1.57 crore and stretch past ₹1.75 crore. That's roughly ₹18 lakh more than the base Defender 110, and you're paying for two extra seats and a less boxy silhouette. Rivals include the BMW X7 (₹1.26-1.33 Cr), Mercedes-Benz GLS (₹1.28-2.75 Cr), Volvo XC90 (₹97.80 Lakh), and Audi Q7. The GLS offers more badge prestige and a plusher cabin; the X7 delivers better on-road dynamics. Who should buy it? Large families who need seven seats and actually go off-road. Anyone who finds the Defender too utilitarian and the GLS too suburban. What will bug you? The interior lacks the sheer opulence of the GLS or X7. The 123-litre boot with all seats up is laughable.
