Expert Review

4.14/5
The Kia Syros EV takes the quirky, boxy design of the Syros and makes it considerably more interesting by replacing the petrol and diesel engines with electric power. It is compact enough for city use but surprisingly spacious inside, with sliding and reclining rear seats, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster and panoramic sunroof. The EV also gets 190 mm of ground clearance, making it reasonably comfortable with Indian roads and speed breakers. There are two battery options: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. The smaller battery gets a 135 hp motor and a claimed 443 km range, while the larger battery produces 171 hp and 255 Nm with a claimed 526 km range. DC fast charging from 10 to 80 percent takes around 39 minutes. The larger battery is the better choice if you regularly travel outside the city, while the smaller one makes more sense for everyday commuting. Who should buy it? Someone who wants a compact electric SUV with good space, strong range and plenty of features. What will bug you? Highway range will be lower in real conditions, charging still needs planning and the top variants get expensive for a compact SUV.

The ride comfort on bad roads is surprisingly good for a compact EV. No harshness.

Front door pockets are large with bottle holders. Plenty of cubbies for small items.

The tall-boy design gives great visibility from the driver's seat. You feel like you're commanding the road.

The battery drop is steady and predictable. No sudden range anxiety on the highway.
