Expert Review

4.38/5
Its suspension has a mature setup that deals well with broken surfaces, undulations and expansion joints. At higher speeds, the SUV feels planted rather than nervous, while good cabin insulation keeps road and wind noise under control. The steering and overall dynamics also feel more refined than heavy. This matters because the Sorento is large enough to feel substantial, but it does not have the cumbersome character of some traditional full-size SUVs. The Sorento is technically a seven-seater, but that does not mean seven adults will enjoy a long journey equally. The first two rows offer the kind of comfort you expect from a premium SUV. The third row is more suitable for children, teenagers or adults on shorter trips. Fold the third row and the Sorento becomes considerably more practical, with up to 813 litres of cargo space. That flexibility makes it useful for family holidays, airport runs and everyday luggage duties.

For me, the biggest problem is the price. It is a nice SUV, but once you cross ₹40 lakh, buyers have many options. The Sorento feels polished and comfortable, but it does not have the size of the Gloster or the practicality of the Innova to justify the premium for everyone.

The Sorento is comfortable but the running costs could become a concern once the warranty period is over. There is a lot of electronics and the hybrid system is quite complex. I would think twice before keeping it for 10 years.

It feels smooth in city traffic and the transition between electric and petrol power is hardly noticeable. The cabin insulation is also impressive. It feels like a much more expensive SUV from inside.

The car is very refined, but some of the ADAS features become irritating on Indian roads. Lane warnings and corrections can feel too aggressive when road markings disappear. Good technology, but it needs careful calibration for our roads.

Comfortable SUV with good technology, but the size and weight are noticeable in city traffic. Parking in tight spaces takes some effort. The hybrid is smooth, but I expected better real-world efficiency during fast highway driving.
