It competes with the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV 3XO, and it does so with a level of swagger that makes the Brezza look like a sensible pair of sandals. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol produces 120 bhp and 172 Nm, paired with a 7-speed DCT, and the 1.5-litre diesel offers 116 bhp and 250 Nm.
Who should buy it? Young buyers who want a compact SUV that doesn't scream "first car." Single professionals and couples who prioritise style and tech over outright space.
What will bug you? The ride is stiff, and rear passengers will feel every pothole. The rear seat is tight for three adults, and the boot (385 litres) is adequate but not class-leading. Also, the Syros now exists, and it's cannibalising the Sonet's lunch from above.
