The Force Gurkha is built for people who believe a road is merely a suggestion. In India, it remains one of the most capable off-road SUVs you can buy, with a rugged design and hardware made for places where normal SUVs would quickly give up.
Its 2.6-litre diesel engine offers strong low-end torque, while the four-wheel-drive system, low-range gearbox and impressive ground clearance make it extremely capable off-road. The tall stance and large windows also give the driver excellent visibility.
What will bug you? On-road refinement is not its strong point. The ride can feel bouncy, the engine is noisy, and the cabin feels basic compared with modern SUVs. Its large size can also be awkward in city traffic, while fuel economy is modest.
Who should buy it? Someone who genuinely wants to explore rough terrain, trails and difficult roads rather than simply looking rugged.
