The Mahindra XUV400 is a practical electric SUV aimed at buyers who want more space and performance than a typical small EV. Based on the XUV300 platform, it offers a spacious cabin, large boot and a fairly conventional SUV driving position. It may not look as futuristic as newer electric SUVs, but its straightforward approach works well for everyday use.
The electric motor delivers instant torque, making the XUV400 quick and effortless in city traffic. The larger battery versions offer useful real-world range for daily commuting and regular highway trips, while fast charging makes longer journeys easier to manage. The ride is comfortable, although the suspension can feel a little firm over sharp bumps.
Who should buy it? Urban and family buyers who want a spacious EV with strong performance and do most of their driving within a predictable charging range.
What will bug you? The interior feels dated compared with newer EVs, charging infrastructure still needs planning on long trips, and software and feature integration are not as polished as the latest competition.
