The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is expected to be announced soon, and the first spy shots suggest that Maruti is keeping the changes on the outside fairly restrained. The familiar tall-boy shape appears unchanged, with the test car showing what look like minor updates to the front and rear styling. But the bigger story could be under the bonnet. Maruti may phase out the existing 1.2-litre four-cylinder K-Series petrol engine and introduce its newer 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z-Series engine, already used in models such as the Swift and Baleno. The move would make sense for the Wagon R, as the newer engine is designed to offer better efficiency and lower emissions. The Wagon R, Ignis and Baleno have historically shared the 1.2-litre K-Series engine, so this could mark the next step in Maruti's engine strategy.
The facelift could also bring interior and feature upgrades. Spy shots are not enough to confirm the exact equipment, but Maruti could introduce a larger floating-style touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with other small cabin updates. The factory-fitted CNG version is also expected to continue, although Maruti could make some changes to its packaging.
Overall, the 2026 Wagon R facelift could look like a mild cosmetic update while bringing more meaningful mechanical and feature changes underneath.
