Expert Review

3.86/5
The Force Gurkha 5 Door is basically the original Gurkha stretched into a more practical family SUV. It keeps the old-school boxy design, high ground clearance and proper 4x4 hardware, but adds two more doors and a longer wheelbase. For buyers who want a serious off-roader without giving up rear-seat access, this version makes much more sense. The 2.6-litre diesel is not about speed. It feels relaxed and works best when you take it off the highway and onto rough trails. The 4x4 system with low range gives it excellent ability on mud, rocks and broken roads. The longer body also makes it more usable for family trips, although it is still a large and fairly heavy SUV. Who should buy it? Someone who genuinely wants a rugged 4x4, needs five-door practicality and enjoys exploring places where the road has basically given up. What will bug you? The cabin feels basic, the ride can be bouncy, the engine is noisy and city driving can feel cumbersome. Fuel economy and service availability also need consideration.
