Why the Maruti Fronx Feels More Premium Than Its Price Suggests

Some cars try to look expensive. The Maruti Fronx somehow manages to make people think it costs more than it actually does. Maruti has used a mix of Nexa design, clever packaging, technology and visual details to give the Fronx a premium personality without pushing it into expensive-car territory.

1. The Fronx Does Not Look Like a Raised Hatchback

This is probably the biggest reason the Fronx feels expensive.

Maruti has given it a wide-looking front end, a high bonnet, muscular wheel arches, roof rails and a coupe-like side profile. The connected rear LED lighting also makes the car look wider than it actually is.

The design follows Maruti's NEXA "Crafted Futurism" theme, with details such as the NEXWave grille, crystal-block DRLs and connected rear lamps.

That matters because perceived value starts before you even open the door.

A car that looks substantial creates an expectation of a higher price.

The Fronx plays that trick rather well.

2. The Cabin Has a More Expensive Colour Combination

Open the door and the Fronx does something clever.

Instead of covering everything in one shade of black, Maruti uses a black and Bordeaux colour combination in the cabin, along with silver and metallic-looking elements.

The dashboard also gets a forged-metal-like matte finish with high-gloss silver inserts.

These details do not cost anywhere near as much as genuine premium materials, but they change how the cabin looks.

And that is an important distinction.

A premium-looking cabin does not always need premium materials everywhere. Sometimes, good colour selection and surface treatment do half the job.

3. The Head-Up Display Is a Big Premium-Car Trick

This is where the Fronx starts punching above its price bracket.

The higher-spec version gets a Head-Up Display, which places important information in the driver's line of sight.

Depending on the system, information such as speed, RPM, navigation alerts and gear position can be displayed without forcing the driver to look down at the instrument cluster.

It is one of those features that makes passengers ask:

"Does this car really have that?"

That reaction is exactly what Maruti is buying with the feature.

4. A 360-Degree Camera Makes the Fronx Feel Much More Expensive

The Fronx also offers a 360 View Camera on higher variants.

Instead of relying only on the rear camera, the system provides a surround view of the car, with dynamic guidelines to help while parking.

In a crowded Indian parking lot, this is more than a party trick.

It helps you judge the car's position around pillars, walls and other vehicles.

And visually, a 360-degree camera interface immediately makes the cabin feel more high-tech.

5. The 9-Inch Infotainment Screen Does a Lot of Heavy Lifting

The Fronx gets a 22.86 cm, 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen on the top variant.

It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the system also offers voice assistance and Surround Sense audio tuning by ARKAMYS.

The important part here is not simply screen size.

It is how the screen changes the visual hierarchy of the dashboard.

A large, properly integrated display immediately gives the cabin a newer and more expensive appearance.

6. Wireless Charging Removes One More "Budget Car" Detail

The Fronx gets a wireless smartphone charger on the higher variants.

It sounds like a small thing, but it contributes to the overall experience.

There is no cable hanging across the centre console every time you enter the car.

Put the phone down, start driving and let it charge.

It is exactly the sort of small convenience feature that makes a car feel more polished. Maruti lists wireless smartphone charging among the Fronx's technology features.

7. Suzuki Connect Makes the Fronx Feel Like a Connected Device

This is another feature most people may not appreciate during a five-minute test drive.

The Fronx gets Suzuki Connect with more than 40 connected-car functions, covering areas such as vehicle information, location, trips, alerts and safety.

Depending on the variant and system, owners can also remotely access functions such as door locking and AC operation. The system can work through smartphones, compatible smartwatches and Alexa.

The car therefore feels less like a standalone machine and more like something connected to your digital life.

That is a very premium-car idea.

8. The Turbo Engine Gives the Fronx Another Premium Touch

The Fronx is also unusual because it offers a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine.

It comes with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, with paddle shifters available with the automatic version.

The turbo version gives the Fronx a different character from a basic city hatchback.

You get a compact body, but there is a more powerful engine option for buyers who want stronger performance.

That combination adds to the perception that the Fronx is more than a dressed-up commuter car.

9. Even the Audio System Has a Premium Angle

Maruti has added Surround Sense by ARKAMYS to the SmartPlay Pro+ system.

It uses different sound profiles to create a more immersive audio experience. Maruti describes the system as offering signature sound ambiences for different moods.

This is another example of where the Fronx creates a premium impression through software and tuning rather than simply throwing expensive hardware at the problem.

10. The Premium Feeling Comes From the Combination

Here is the interesting part.

None of these features alone would make the Fronx feel like an expensive car.

The magic comes from stacking them together.

You get:

  • SUV-inspired proportions

  • NEXA design language

  • Connected LED rear lamps

  • Black and Bordeaux cabin

  • Metallic-look dashboard treatment

  • 9-inch infotainment

  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

  • Head-Up Display

  • 360-degree camera

  • Wireless charging

  • Suzuki Connect

  • Turbo-petrol option

  • Paddle shifters

  • Premium audio tuning

Maruti itself describes the Fronx as having a "tech-loaded" cabin and highlights the combination of the HUD, 360-degree camera, wireless charger, SmartPlay Pro+ system and connected technology.

That combination creates something more important than a long equipment list.

It creates perceived value.

Why Does the Fronx Feel More Expensive Than It Is?

The simple answer is that Maruti has spent money in places that customers notice immediately.

The exterior gets a strong road presence.

The cabin gets contrasting colours and layered surfaces.

The touchscreen makes the dashboard look modern.

The HUD and 360-degree camera create a high-tech impression.

Suzuki Connect adds the feeling of owning a connected vehicle.

And the turbo engine gives buyers an option that feels more performance-oriented.

It is a smart formula.

The Fronx does not need to have the most expensive materials in its class. It needs to make you feel that you bought something more substantial than the price tag suggests.

And that is exactly where the Fronx has been particularly clever.
