The compact electric SUV segment in India has witnessed a dramatic shake-up with the official launch of the much-anticipated Kia Syros EV. Stepping in as Kia's second mass-market electric vehicle for the Indian subcontinent, the Syros EV bridges the gap between affordable urban commuters and premium high-end tech, breathing fresh competition into a space fiercely contested by rivals like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 400. The design philosophy of the new Syros EV doesn't shy away from making a statement. Adopting the signature "Digital Tiger Face" forward profile, the electric SUV boasts a highly modern front fascia highlighted by vertical Ice Cube MFR LED headlamps and distinctive Star Map LED daytime running lights.

The silhouette stays true to its traditional upright SUV roots, providing a commanding view of the road. Side-mounted charging ports emphasize everyday utility, while the rear features intricate starmap combination lamps that mirror its forward signature. Depending on the chosen trim, the vehicle rides cleanly on aerodynamically optimized 16-inch or 17-inch crystal-cut dual-tone alloy wheels that improve drag coefficients while accentuating its aggressive posture.

Powertrain, Best-in-Class Range, and Charging Capability

Built on Kia's highly adaptable K1 platform, the Syros EV is structured to entirely banish range anxiety. It arrives with a clever dual-battery configuration tailored to different commuter profiles:  

• Standard Range: Houses a 42 kWh battery pack coupled with a 99 kW electric motor pushing out 135 PS of power and an ARAI-certified range of 443 km on a full charge.  

• Extended Range (ER): Upgrades to a segment-leading 51.4 kWh battery pack paired with a 126 kW electric motor. This system belts out a class-best 171 PS of power, hitting 0 to 100 km/h in a swift 8.1 seconds, while achieving a massive 526 km certified driving range.  

Juicing up the battery pack is equally efficient. Equipped with 100 kW DC fast-charging compatibility, the Syros EV can comfortably replenish its energy levels from 10% to 80% in approximately 39 minutes. For residential use, an 11 kW AC onboard fast charger tops up the battery pack efficiently during overnight hours.

The crown jewel of the interior is indisputably the first-in-segment 30-inch Trinity Panoramic Display Panel.
