The BMW i5 (M60 xDrive) ex-showroom price in India is ₹1.20 Crore. On-road price will be higher, depending on your city (taxes, registration, insurance).
BMW claims a range of up to 516 km on a full charge (ARAI / WLTP standards) with the BMW i5. Real-world range will be lower if you use AC a lot, drive in city traffic or do many fast-starts.
Since the BMW i5 is electric, there’s no petrol/diesel cost. If we assume electricity rate as ₹9/unit (₹9 per kWh): Cost per km ≈ ₹9 × 0.1626 = ₹1.46 per km.
That’s much cheaper than many petrol luxury sedans (which often cost ₹7-₹12 per km). But you must have reliable charging at home or work.
Length: ~ 5060 mm, Width: ~ 1900 mm, Height: ~ 1505 mm, Boot space: ~ 490 litres.
So yes, it feels luxurious and spacious. But with a length of over 5 metres and width close to 2 metres, squeezing into tight Old City lanes or narrow parking might stress your driving skills.
1. DC fast charging (10-80%) takes about 30 minutes on a 200-205 kW charger.
2. AC charging (0-100%) with a wallbox will take around 4.1-4.2 hours.
This car is for people who:
1. Want prestige, performance, comfort and can afford the premium EV segment.
2. Live in cities or suburbs where charging infrastructure (home and fast chargers) is available.
3. Expect luxury and tech, not just wheels: you want stylish interiors, good sound system, advanced safety.
4. Don’t mind compromising a bit on ground clearance and maneuvering in tight spaces.
Electric motors need less frequent mechanical servicing: no oil changes, fewer parts. But still aftersales, battery health, wear & tyres cost. Running cost per km is much lower as above. But initial cost is very high (price, import duties). Also note that Insurance for luxury EVs tends to be expensive.
