The original Carens is favored by families for its 7-seater layout, ease of driving, and efficient fuel consumption. Fleet operators also prefer it for its durability, low running costs, and strong resale value.

Clavis features modern styling cues, upgraded cabin materials, advanced infotainment, additional safety features, and a more refined driving experience, creating a luxury feel while retaining Carens’ practicality.

The Clavis comes with multiple engines: a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol (~115 PS), a 1.5L turbo petrol (~160 PS), and a 1.5L diesel (~115 PS), with transmission options including manual, iMT, and DCT.

With its slightly larger dimensions compared to the standard Carens, it remains manageable in city traffic but requires attention in tight parking spaces, while its ground clearance and ergonomics make daily commuting and weekend trips comfortable.

The petrol 1.5L naturally aspirated engine delivers around 16 km/l under ideal ARAI conditions. The diesel 1.5L CRDi variant is slightly more efficient, offering about 18–19 km/l. Turbo petrol trims may be slightly lower at 14–15 km/l due to higher power output.

The petrol manual Fronx delivers an ARAI-rated mileage of around 21.79 kmpl, while the AMT/automatic goes up to 22.89 kmpl. On CNG, it returns about 28.51 km per kilogram. With petrol at roughly ₹102 a litre, the cost per kilometre works out to ₹4.7 to ₹5 in ideal highway conditions, and higher in city traffic where mileage usually drops to 14–17 kmpl. The CNG trims are cheaper to run, averaging ₹3.2 to ₹3.5 per km depending on local CNG prices.

The Fronx is underpinned by Maruti’s Heartect platform, which is designed to keep weight low, boost fuel efficiency and maintain decent crash protection. This same architecture is shared with Baleno and other Maruti models, but Fronx has additional strengthening to suit its SUV-crossover stance.
