Alto’s sales have been declining in recent months, suggesting that budget cars are losing favor among Indian buyers. Many are now opting for larger, feature-loaded SUVs. Despite this trend, the Alto K10 remains a popular choice for cab operators and individuals looking for a budget-friendly city car. Now it has 6 Airbags from base model itself.

Maruti Suzuki has recently made a bold move by offering 6 airbags as standard across all variants of the Alto K10. This decision reflects a safety-first approach from India’s largest carmaker. Maruti had earlier introduced 6 airbags in models like the Brezza from base variants, and now even its most affordable hatchback gets this significant safety upgrade.

While 6 airbags certainly improve passenger safety, it's important to note that the Alto K10 previously received a 2-star rating in Global NCAP crash tests. With the additional airbags, the hatchback could see its safety rating improve to 3 or even 4 stars. Alto crash test

The inclusion of 6 airbags enhances safety in the following ways:

  • Front and Side Impact Protection: Driver and passenger front airbags cushion the impact during a head-on collision.
  • Curtain Airbags: These provide protection for rear passengers and reduce head injuries during side crashes.
  • Reduced Fatalities: Airbags work alongside seatbelts to reduce the risk of fatal injuries during severe crashes.

With increasing competition and rising customer awareness, Maruti Suzuki is aligning with global safety standards. While it may not completely transform the Alto into a fortress, 6 airbags offer a significant safety boost.

In addition to the six airbags, the Alto K10 now comes equipped with:

  • Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
  • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
  • Three-point seat belts for all passengers
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Luggage-retention crossbar

The Alto K10 continues to be powered by a 1.0-liter petrol engine producing 67 horsepower, compatible with E20 fuel. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Additionally, a factory-fitted CNG variant remains available for consumers seeking fuel-efficient alternatives.

Maruti Alto Price Hike

Maruti Suzuki has recently enhanced the Alto K10 by making six airbags standard across all its variants, reflecting the company's commitment to passenger safety. This safety upgrade has led to a price increase across the model range, varying between ₹6,000 to ₹16,000 depending on the variant.
