6 Airbags as Standard from Base Model in Brezza: Maruti Scared from Syros?
Published On 15/2/2025, 6:06:18 am Author Mohit TanejaThe Brezza, one of India’s favorite subcompact SUVs, is now offering 6 airbags as standard across all variants. That’s right—no more paying extra for top-end trims to get proper safety. But here’s the twist: this move comes just as the Kia Syros is gearing up to challenge the Brezza’s dominance. Is Maruti feeling the heat? Let’s break it down.

Maruti’s move to make 6 airbags standard is a big win for safety-conscious buyers. But with the Kia Syros on the horizon, the competition in the subcompact SUV segment is about to get intense. The Brezza has upped its game, but will it be enough to fend off the Syros? Only time will tell.
Brezza’s Safety Upgrade: A Game-Changer
6 airbags are now standard, even in the base model. Earlier, this was limited to the top-end ZXI+ variant.
Other safety features include a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
With these updates, the Brezza could be aiming for a 5-star Global NCAP rating. Currently, it holds a 4-star rating from 2018.
Price and Rivals
Prices now range from ₹8.54 lakh to ₹14.14 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The Brezza locks horns with the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and the Mahindra XUV 3XO.
Why Syros is a threat to Brezza
The Syros boasts a 50mm longer wheelbase and a 465-litre boot, compared to the Brezza’s 328 litres. This translates to more legroom and luggage space, making it a better choice for families and long trips.
Kia has built a strong reputation in India with models like the Seltos and Sonet. The Syros benefits from this trust, offering a premium ownership experience that rivals Maruti’s reliability.
