Toyota has announced a price hike for its popular Innova Hycross, with increases across both regular and hybrid variants. The hike varies between Rs 17,000 and Rs 36,000, depending on the variant, and the new prices now range from Rs 19.94 lakh to Rs 31.34 lakh.
For the regular GX variants, the price hike stands at Rs 17,000. This applies to both the 7-seater and 8-seater configurations. The prices for these variants now start at Rs 19.94 lakh (for the GX 7-seater) and go up to Rs 19.99 lakh (for the GX 8-seater). The 7-seater variant, previously priced at Rs 19.77 lakh, sees an increase of Rs 17,000, while the 8-seater variant, which used to cost Rs 19.82 lakh, now costs Rs 19.99 lakh.
Hybrid variants have experienced a more substantial price increase, with a hike ranging from Rs 34,000 to Rs 36,000. The VX 7-seater hybrid and VX 8-seater hybrid now cost Rs 26.31 lakh and Rs 26.36 lakh, up from Rs 25.97 lakh and Rs 26.02 lakh, respectively. The VX (O) variants, which offer more premium features, have also seen price hikes, now priced at Rs 28.29 lakh (7-seater) and Rs 28.34 lakh (8-seater), up from Rs 27.94 lakh and Rs 27.99 lakh.
The top-of-the-line ZX hybrid and ZX (O) hybrid variants now cost Rs 30.70 lakh and Rs 31.34 lakh, respectively, representing an increase of Rs 36,000 over the previous prices of Rs 30.34 lakh and Rs 30.98 lakh.
Automobile manufacturers have been facing increased costs for raw materials, supply chain disruptions, and inflation in recent months. To maintain margins, price hikes become necessary. With Toyota continuously improving the technology and features of the Innova Hycross, especially in the hybrid variants, the price increases could reflect the added value. The advanced hybrid systems and other premium features justify a higher price tag for the more luxurious variants.
For prospective buyers, the price hike might be a bit of a setback, especially if they were already on the fence about purchasing. However, the Hycross still offers significant value, particularly in the hybrid variants, which are gaining popularity due to the growing demand for fuel-efficient and eco-friendly vehicles.
If you are looking for a similar alternative, you can consider the Maruti Invicto, which is essentially a rebadged version of the Toyota Innova Hycross. While both cars share the same platform and many features, the Invicto provides a slightly different package with Maruti’s branding and pricing, which could be more appealing for those seeking a similar offering at a potentially lower price.
The Invicto starts at Rs 25.21 lakh, which is higher than the starting price of the regular GX variant of the Innova Hycross (Rs 19.94 lakh for the 7-seater). However, the Hycross regular variants offer non-hybrid options, whereas the Invicto is only available in hybrid variants. The Innova Hycross hybrid variants start at Rs 25.97 lakh (VX hybrid), which is close to the Invicto's base price.
At the higher end, the Invicto's Alpha Plus hybrid variant (Rs 28.51 lakh) is priced similarly to the Innova Hycross hybrid ZX variant (Rs 30.70 lakh). The Invicto’s pricing is typically lower than the Hycross for similarly featured hybrid versions.
The Toyota Innova Hycross is like that one cousin who’s always in the limelight because it is the sibling of the legendary bhaukaal SUV, the Fortuner.
Since 2007, Innova has been the undisputed boss in the MPV world, thanks to its solid brand value and that Bahubali-esque road presence of Toyota SUVs and MPVs. It doesn’t just carry passengers; it commands respect on the streets.
Now, the Maruti Invicto is essentially the same car, but it struggles to shine under the spotlight because, well, Maruti is known for its "sasti mileage wali cars." The brand has built its empire on affordability, and selling a ₹30 lakh car doesn't quite sit well with the image of "Kitna deti hai?"
But don’t get this wrong—Invicto is not a bad car. Not at all. It’s the same Innova Hycross with a different badge. If brand perception doesn’t matter to you and your budget is around ₹30 lakh, just close your eyes and go for the Invicto. You’ll dodge the Toyota price hike and save an extra ₹1–1.5 lakh. That’s a win-win for your wallet!
