Tata's Avinya: The Answer to Tesla, Expected at ₹25 Lakh
Published On 27/2/2025, 5:54:37 am Author Mohit TanejaTata’s first pure electric car, the Avinya, comes with top-notch build quality and insane performance. And yeah, it’s coming for the Tesla Model 3, which is priced at around ₹30-32 lakh. Tata is making sure it’s not affordable, but also ahead of Tesla.

Mahindra's recent launch of the BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs has created a buzz in the electric vehicle market. The BE 6 starts at ₹18.90 lakh, while the XEV 9e begins at ₹21.90 lakh. Previously, Tata Motors focused on retrofitting models like the Nexon, Punch, and Curvv with electric drivetrains. Now, Tata is stepping up with the Avinya, their first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) built on a dedicated platform. The Avinya is expected to launch in June 2026, with an estimated price of ₹25 lakh.
Why Tata Avinya matters for India
The Avinya measures 4,300 mm in length, offering a spacious interior. It promises a range of 500 kilometers on a single charge and supports ultra-fast charging, achieving this range in under 30 minutes.
Getting charged in 30 minutes is no joke—it’s a big milestone. The Avinya reflects cutting-edge tech—advanced battery management, lightweight architecture, and a dedicated BEV platform. It’s not just about speed or range; it’s about smarter, cleaner mobility. The Avinya's design blends elements of a premium hatchback, an SUV, and an MPV, aiming to provide spaciousness and comfort. The interior emphasizes a minimalist approach, focusing on reducing screen time to create a calming environment.
In terms of competition, the Avinya is positioned to rival Tesla's Model 3, which is projected to enter the Indian market with a price tag of around ₹30 to ₹32 lakh.
