Martin Uhlarik, a name synonymous with automotive design excellence, has played a pivotal role in shaping Tata Motors' design language. 1 His journey, marked by a rich educational background and a stellar career spanning multiple global automakers, has culminated in his current position as Global VP of Design at Tata Motors.
Uhlarik's passion for design led him to pursue a degree in Industrial Design from the Ontario. His college was OCAD. His thirst for automotive design knowledge subsequently took him to the renowned Art Center College of Design, where he earned a BSc in Automotive Design. Interestingly, this is the same institution that nurtured the legendary Indian car designer, Dilip Chhabria.

At Tata, Uhlarik initially headed the design team at the Tata Motors European Technical Centre (TMETC) in the UK.
His exceptional leadership and design vision quickly propelled him to the position of Global VP of Design in 2021. Under his guidance, Tata Motors has undergone a design renaissance, with models like the Harrier, Safari, and Nexon garnering widespread acclaim.
Uhlarik's influence extends beyond the design studio. He is a driving force behind Tata's commitment to sustainable and holistic automotive design. His work on the Tata AVINYA concept is a prime example of his vision for the future of mobility.
