Kia Carens has been quietly smashing it in India. Since its 2022 debut, this premium MPV has been moving ~5,000 units a month, punching above the Maruti XL6 and Toyota Rumion with its posh interiors and SUV-like swagger. Now, Kia’s dropping a 2025 facelift—and guess what? There’s an electric version coming too. Buckle up, folks.

Want a family car that doesn’t suck to drive or charge? The 2025 Carens (and its electric twin) just raised the bar.

Kia Carens 2025: ICE and EV both are expected to lineup together

Carens has been a descent option for those who don't want Ertiga or rumion, rather something more premium for their extended family. It has been selling nicely in India with an average of 5K sales a month. It is no where close to the sales of Ertiga but more than half of the ertiga is for fleet operators. So yeah, it is a no nonsense option for people seeking a MUV.

With the 2025 facelift, Kia isn’t just dipping a toe in the electric waters—they’re cannonballing in. The Carens EV is confirmed, sharing bones with the global Kia EV5.

Here’s why it matters:

Range? 470-500 km on a single charge (same ballpark as the upcoming Creta EV).

Range anxiety? More like range confidence.

Space? Still seats seven, with a 550L boot that’ll swallow your entire camping gear and your mother-in-law’s luggage.

Charging: 10-80% in less than an hour with a fast charger. And with 7,000+ charging stations nationwide, even a Delhi-to-Mumbai road trip isn’t wild anymore.

Although this is an expected figure based on what Hyundai Creta is able to deliver and Kia being sister company to Hyundai, is likely to share it's EV platform with Carens. In fact prior to the launch of Creta electric, both were spotted together, being tested. Not sure if it was EV version or ICE, but it is likely to be the EV version.

Who’s It For: Kia CarensEV 2025 potential customers?

Joint families who want to ditch diesel guilt without sacrificing space. Road-trippers who need to haul everything. Basically, anyone who thinks “electric car” shouldn’t mean “compromise.”

Kia’s playing 4D chess here. The Carens facelift keeps ICE loyalists happy, while the EV version stakes a claim in a market that’s screaming for electric family cars. With killer design, no-nonsense range, and Kia’s trusty warranty (5 years, baby!), this MPV just went from “practical” to “pioneer.”

What could be new

Kia carens new render Outside: The Carens ditches its “friendly uncle” vibe for something sharper. Think a wider Tiger-Nose grille, slimmer LED headlights (hello, EV6 vibes), and a roof that’s slightly lower for a sleeker silhouette. Oh, and those spy shots? Confirm new 17-inch alloys that look chef’s kiss.

Inside: Kia’s gone full minimalist. The dashboard now packs a floating dual-screen setup (digital dials + a 10.25-inch touchscreen), ambient lighting that changes colors like a disco, and ventilated seats (finally!). Panoramic sunroof? Yep, your kids will love it.

Tech: ADAS is here! Adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping, and auto emergency braking. Plus, six airbags as standard. Take notes, Maruti.

Price & Rivals

The petrol/diesel facelift will start around ₹11 lakh, but the EV? Expect ₹25-30 lakh (ex-showroom). Steep? Maybe. But try getting a 7-seater EV with this range elsewhere.

Competition: The ICE Carens will keep bullying the XL6 and Rumion. The EV? It’s in a league of its own… for now.
